Founders Anna and Niko Tsellas came to me looking for a minimal and playful design sensibility that hearkened back to traditional Grecian bakeries of yesteryear.
Elona Foods is a new Greek dessert brand making authentic koulouraki cookies with a modern twist. The goal was to create a visual presence that would introduce curious foodies to the Greek staple without alienating the population already familiar with the classic cookie. The custom-made icon adds a sense of motion that feels traditionally Greek while directly relating to the twist of the cookie. We selected colors and type that felt like they could belong in a Greek Bakery from decades back. Something simple, playful, and nostalgic. We designed a custom site in Squarespace that quickly introduced newcomers to the "cookie with a twist" and provided an e-commerce solution and store locator.
Elona Foods has made significant progress since launching the updated branding and website. They now offer three unique flavors in over seventy stores nationwide. Also, they recently had the honor of being showcased as a premium in-flight snack for Delta Airlines' first-class passengers and are preparing to launch their first physical store.
